DOCTRINES AND VISIONS, NOAM CHOMSKY

This book cover is part of Penguin’s 70 years celebration series. We’ve chosen the 2 contrasting (and complimentary) images to highlight Chomsky’s comments on US foreign policy and our own thoughts about the hypocrisy of the current regime. The typography parodies the graphics of 24 hour TV news channels. Cynically commenting on the instant effect that war can have on the economy.

The two images used here are: Donald Rumsfeld meeting Saddam Hussein in the 1980s when the US was supporting Iraq’s war against Iran. And below, Captain Chin places the stars and stripes flag over Saddam Hussein’s statue in central Baghdad after the 2003 invasion of Iraq. The flag was quickly removed and replaced with an Iraqi flag.
