This month saw the release of our latest project with Thames and Hudson: The Bicycle Artisans. The book, written by Will Jones, gathers together an assortment of manufacturers and craftspeople who create unique and beautiful objects ranging from hand-stitched leather accessories to computer-engineered carbon frames. Their working practices are illustrated with a diverse selection of visual material including sketches, technical drawings, computer-renderings and photography.
Drawing inspiration from early twentieth-century Swiss and Italian cycling posters, a headline typeface was created specifically for the book. Alluding to a prevalent characteristic of customised bicycles – the simplification of form – the book design is bold, graphic and modern.
