London

Occupy London is an non-violent activist movement resulting from a demonstration against economic inequality in 2011. The movement is also part of a world-wide network of activism.

A logo based on the London Transport roundel was first used to represent the movement, but after discussion with Transport for London it was dropped. Occupy London then asked a number of designers to create a new logo, all of which were put to a public vote. Barnbrook’s design was chosen by the public.

We felt it better that we kept away from traditional Leftist imagery as the occupy movement has united many people of different political views. Instead the logo simply uses the initials of Occupy London, symbolising location with the and making an arrow with the L. The symbol was designed to be created quickly and easily in different media. We also worked extensively with Occupy London on their website.
